RiverSpring Living names building after late plant operations director Jimmy Keegan

Posted

RiverSpring Living, the parent company for the Hebrew Home at Riverdale, has bestowed an honor upon the late Jimmy Keegan, the former director of plant operations there.

The Palisade Avenue facility held a ceremony earlier this month naming its plant operations building after Keegan, who died in 2000 after spending 32 years working for the non-profit.

Keegan’s daughter, Laura Fanning, brought her family to the ceremony where everyone held up a can of Budweiser beer, Jimmy’s favorite.

Free city parks summer programs

Overall, the summer play includes tennis, golf, track and field, and soccer. More locally, at Van Cortlandt Park, programs are open to young people between 8 and 17.  Soccer runs through Aug. 11:

• for kids between 7 and 9 on Tuesdays at 9 a.m.

• for kids between 10 and 11 on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

• for kids between 12 and 13 on Thursdays at 9 a.m.

• for kids between 14 and 17 on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.

Tennis is available for kids between 6 and 17 through Aug. 16 on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 1 and 4 p.m.

Registration is available at CityParksFoundation.org/play until everything starts next month, or until all the slots are filled.

The free coaching and equipment use is intended to make organized sports more accessible for kids of all ages, keeping them active and healthy, both mentally and physically.
