Slain teen to get a city street named after her

Posted

The teen who grew up in Kingsbridge and was killed in a random shooting outside her school a year ago, will be honored with a street naming next month.

Angellyh Marieh Yambo will be commemorated with a co-street naming near 3340 Bailey Ave. and Bailey Place on April 8 at 11 a.m.

The 16-year-old, who had just celebrated her sweet 16 months before the tragic gang shooting, was very familiar with that area as she grew up playing softball in South Riverdale and visiting her dad at his job as a doorman at The Glen Briar co-op on Kappock Street.

On hand for the ceremony will be council members Pierina Sanchez and Rafael Salamanca Jr. and borough president Vanessa Gibson. Phipps Neighborhoods will sponsor the event.
