Touch down at these watering holes for Super Bowl LIX

Posted

Bars across the city are expecting large crowds this Sunday as they prepare for Super Bowl LIX on Sunday, Feb. 9 and so are your favorite watering holes in the northwest Bronx.

This year, the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles are at it again in the biggest NFL game of the season – a rematch of the 2023 game played in Glendale, Arizona and won by the Chiefs, 38-35.

The Chiefs are looking to three-peat after their 2023 and 2024 Super Bowl victories. They won last year’s game by the skin of their teeth as they defeated the San Francisco 49ers in overtime, 25-22.

The last NFL team to win three consecutive championships was the Green Bay Packers coached by Vince Lombardi in 1966, ‘67 and ‘68. The first win was garnered when the big game was called the “NFL Championship,” before the merger between the American Football League (AFL) and the NFL in 1967.

Perhaps the Chiefs have luck on their side as the founder of the team, Lamar Hunt, coined the term “Super Bowl.” Hunt owned the Chiefs until he died in 2005.

Will the Eagles get revenge for 2023 or will the Chiefs be the first NFL team to three-peat in more than half a century? Flock to one of the watering holes listed on Sunday, Feb. 9 and find out.
