(re: “Adams moves to remove sidewalk sheds,” Aug. 17)
We all want sidewalk sheds down, including building owners. What neither the recent Riverdale Press story nor the letter published by Mayor Eric Adams the week before mentions is that owners pay for shedding, including a rental fee every month that shedding is up. There may be a very small number of owners who deliberately keep sheds up to avoid repair costs, but for most owners, it is the process that takes time.

Over the past few years, municipal retirees have had to anxiously grapple with the prospect that they may have to switch health care plans from the Medigap plan promised to them, to a Medicare Advantage plan. I know that promise — I was made the same promise when I began my career as a public school special education teacher more than years ago.

The personal views of Americans, including my own, on Israeli judicial reform should have no bearing on America’s core commitment to Israel’s security — which is and should always be non-negotiable. I am totally in agreement with Marcia Yerman’s recent letter.
I have lived in this area since the early ‘70s, and back then, we had so many wonderful stores. It’s just such a shame now to see so many empty storefronts on Johnson Avenue and West 235th Street.
