Mike Malone went from already a really good coach to the talk of the NBA following the Denver Nuggets triumph in five games over the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals earlier this month. Denver was the best team all year led by arguably the most lethal player in the league in Nikola Jokic. By all measures their crowning moment was most deserved, but still not something Malone wanted as Denver’s epitaph.

This year is lining up to be the “Year of the Jasper” in Major League Baseball. First there was Tom Cosgrove with the San Diego Padres, and now the latest member to join the ranks out of Manhattan College is Joe Jacques. The Boston Red Sox called up Jacques on June 9 and he made his debut three days later.

The night-capper for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference semifinals round pitted Manhattan College men’s lacrosse against a team they had yet to figure out this season. Ultimately, this year’s runner-up, the Siena Saints, got the last laugh at Gaelic Park, winning 11-8 and proving to be road warriors at the expense of the top seed Jaspers.
