New York has elected a new mayor. We urge the mayor-elect to embrace the responsibility of governing for all — to protect the vulnerable, reject divisive rhetoric, and ensure that safety, dignity and respect are guaranteed to every New Yorker, including members of the Jewish community. We must aspire to more than basic civility — and, with the Almighty’s help as well as New Yorkers holding one another accountable, we will.
A broad segment of the Jewish community — too often fractured and divided — came together with a strong, unified voice and effectively organized to turn out the vote. We are committed to building on that progress. The Orthodox Union remains more determined than ever to advocate for the needs of the Jewish people — and to transform our collective strength into lasting impact at City Hall and beyond.
