To the editor,
This is an open letter to Manhattan University because an MU student was loudly yelling “Wake up you [profanities]!” to his neighbors of all ages at 11:08 a.m. on Saturday, March 7. This was in the midst of other loud screaming and loud music coming from the backyard of 440 W 238th St. That day, MU students inflicted 18 hours of loud music and offensive hollering in this residential neighborhood, despite years of noise complaints from local residents. This is a recurring problem and my record of complaints, complete with audio recordings, goes back to 2023; it speaks for itself.
Therefore, on behalf of countless aggrieved neighbors, I demand that you stop this continual assault on our quality of life. The noise is abusive and intolerable, detrimental to our mental health, and to our property values. Please act decisively with large fines, suspensions, and expulsions for students who disturb the peace in violation of the MU code of student conduct. No self-respecting university would graduate a student who yells profanity at their neighbors on a Saturday morning. You have ample resources to put an end to this insufferable state of affairs. Please do so without further delay. Thank you.
