Disconnect in JD Vance’s actions

Posted

To the editor,

JD Vance touts his Christianity in his latest book, “Communion.” I see a disconnect between his actions as well as him being Donald Trump’s vice president and what he claims to be his faith. Christ is all about love and caring for your neighbor. His teachings are clear, have compassion for the poor. Jesus would not have wanted to see men dressed like the Gestapo chasing down people on the street, killing some in cold blood. And most egregious of all, keeping children and toddlers locked up in reportedly awful conditions. Also no one who claims to be a Christian could have made up that vicious lie that Haitians were stealing and eating cats and dogs, people’s pets, in Springfield, Illinois in 2024. The administration in which he serves killed USAID which provided food and medical aid to Africa and other places where the poor desperately need it. It is reported that since USAID’s demise, thousands of people, mostly children, have died from starvation and disease. This compassionate program has been in existence since the Kennedy administration and no other president had sought to end it. There will be no forgiveness for Donald J. Trump nor JD Vance for all the cruelty and hate they have inflicted on so many.
