Free speech disagreement

I just read a letter to the editor published in your Oct. 27 edition. The letter writer, George Silos, argues against taking girls and young women out of the home to “educate” them in college, instead of keeping them home dependent on men.

I think this was a joke, right? Will The Riverdale Press also be soliciting letters advocating for reinstituting segregation, or quotas based on religion?

I am all for allowing the expression of opinions — but this letter writer based his entire extremist and misogynist argument on made-up information.

Giving voice to bigots does not serve journalism, our neighborhood, or greater society.

Pretty gross.
