The Mosholu Montefiore Community Center will receive a $50,000 College Access Challenge Grant in order to better assist low income and under-represented groups such as veterans and first generation immigrants earn college degrees.
The federal grant was announced by Rep. Eliot Engel last week. The grant is funded from a $7 million College Access Challenge Grant award given to New York State by the U.S. Department of Education.
“The more we do to help our students with higher education, the more it helps our country’s future,” said Mr. Engel in a press release, “The more students we educate, the better our economy becomes and the better we are able to maintain our economic and technological lead over other countries.”
