Once again, blame the Jews

To the editor,

Last week’s Riverdale Press is awash with letters both condoning and promoting the vilification of Israel and Jews.  The Soviets came up with the euphemism “zionists” to disguise their persecution of Jews soon after the Holocaust. Antizionism is the new antisemitism. 

False claims of colonialism (Israel has been the Jewish homeland for thousands of years, predating Islam), genocide (Israel was forced to defend itself after Hamas’ true genocidal invasion and has the best military record for minimizing civilian deaths), and racism (Israel is more than half non-white with Arabs voting and participating at every level of society) fuel worldwide violence against Jews.  One of the authors even asks Jews to ignore Mamdani’s inciteful lies and opposition of the existence of the one Jewish State.

I wonder why these voices crying out for social justice never bother to criticize the Islamic jihadists that roam over Africa, including in Nigeria, murdering and enslaving Blacks and Christians and burning down churches.  These victims could really use your support!

I call upon neighbors of good faith to stand with Israel and the Jewish People during this time when we are being threatened, targeted, vilified, and excluded.  Please stand up for truth and decency now.  We are in this together...
