Orioles top Dodgers in Kosher Little League title game

Posted

The Orioles came from behind to top the Dodgers, 14-4, for the Kosher Little League junior championship June 18.

The O’s were led by pitchers Pauly Falkenstein — the winning hurler — and Alex Sandel. Sam Gibber drove in the winning run with a two-run double in the eighth inning, which gave the Orioles a 6-4 lead.

Dodgers pitcher Ilan Exler — who pitched well for three innings — and Yuval Davis spurred a three-run rally in the first inning to give the Dodgers a 3-1 lead. The O’s tied the game with two runs in the fourth inning on Jonah Stein’s RBI groundout and Charlie Gibber’s heads-up base running.

The game was tied after six innings, sending it into extra innings.

Neither team scored in the seventh, but the O’s scored eight runs in the eighth to put the game out of reach after a leadoff walk to Isaac Gibber and a hit by Faulkenstein.

Then Gibber drove in the game-winning runs with his double.

Faulkenstein pitched a scoreless eighth to close out the win.

Also shining in the victory was Orioles first baseman Zach Rubin, who had some run-saving catches in the game.
