It’s been a season to remember on the Marillac Field pitch.
For the first time in program history, the University of Mount Saint Vincent men’s soccer team captured the Skyline Conference regular season title.
They weren’t alone either.
On the women’s side, the Dolphins earned their second straight regular season crown, cementing UMSV’s place as one of the conference’s most dominant athletic programs in 2025.
Both teams closed their regular seasons with emphatic wins over Purchase College this week, and both enter the postseason as the top seeds in their respective Skyline Conference tournaments.
“We are so proud of both of our soccer programs,” UMSV Athletic Director, Phil Stern told The Press. “They represent UMSV at the highest level on and off the field. The fact that they have both won the Skyline conference regular season is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our student athletes and coaches. We look forward to giving them an a great home field advantage at one of the best soccer venues in Division 3, Marillac Field. Our whole campus is aware of this accomplishment and will show up to support.”
Undefeated season for men’s team
The men’s team, led by first-year head coach Max Watson, completed an unbeaten campaign with a 6-1 rout over Purchase on Wednesday. The Dolphins finished the regular season 13-0-2 — the best record in program history.
Junior midfielder Sebastian Ciurlizza put the finishing touches on his breakout season with a hat trick, bringing his total to seven goals this year. Sophomore William Sornin added two goals, while Emil Jensen also found the back of the net. Arav Kumar led the team with two assists, while Luka Gelevski, David Marquez, Trevor Pegg and Sornin also contributed with helpers.
Watson’s squad has excelled on both ends of the field, averaging more than three goals per game while conceding less than one, just 0.93 per contest. A deep and balanced roster has been key to the team’s consistency throughout the season.
With the regular season title secured, the Dolphins now prepare for a postseason run with serious championship aspirations.
Women claim second straight top seed
On the women’s side, the Dolphins left no doubt on Tuesday, overwhelming Purchase 7-0 to close out the regular season. The win secured UMSV’s second consecutive Skyline Conference regular season championship and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming conference tournament.
The Dolphins finish the regular season with a 12-3-2 overall record, including a 9-1-1 mark in conference play.
Junior forward Eva Puentes continued her offensive dominance, scoring two goals against the Panthers to bring her season total to 15, the highest in the conference.
Freshman Ariana Hernandez added a goal and an assist, raising her season totals to three goals and nine assists. Her impact has put her squarely in the conversation for Skyline Rookie of the Year.
The scoring didn’t stop there. Freshman Michelle Zuniga netted two second-half goals, while Cameron Cruz and Emily Legler also converted for the Dolphins.
With the regular season in the books, UMSV has continued their strong run of dominance over the last few years in Skyline Conference play.
A historic fall for Dolphins’ soccer
This fall marks a turning point for UMSV athletics. Both the men’s and women’s soccer programs not only topped their conference standings but did so with dominant, deep, and balanced squads.
For a school tucked away in the Bronx’s northwest corner, the Dolphins have made their presence known on the regional soccer scene — and they’re not finished yet.
The postseason awaits. Ater this historic regular season, both Dolphins squads have made one thing clear: they’re playing for more.
And they’ll do so in the confines of their home field.
