Thanking supporters for primary election win

To the editor,

I am writing to express my deep appreciation to the Democrats of the 81st Assembly District for renominating me as their Assemblyman.

While no elected official prefers to face a primary challenge, I must admit going out campaigning, knocking on doors and meeting voters on the streets and at events energizes me. Believe it or not, I actually enjoy it. That is why I attend so many events - to hear from voters, listen to their concerns and address their issues.

I was very excited to assemble a broad and diverse coalition of supporters and am grateful to all of them. Obviously, that includes members of our Benjamin Franklin Reform Democratic Club, but also many non-club members who are constituents. The coalition includes dozens of labor unions, representing the public sector and the private sector, including the building trades. These unions represent countless New Yorkers from teachers to municipal employees to hospital workers to building workers and include many, many thousands of residents of the 81st AD.

I was also endorsed by a large group of advocates, including the NY League of Conservation Voters, the NY Immigration Coalition (Immigrant and anti-ICE activists), Tenants PAC, Planned Parenthood PAC (women’s reproductive rights advocates), the 504 Democratic Club (advocates for people with disabilities), The Stonewall Democratic Club (organizing for the LGBTQ+ community) and many more.

A long list of elected officials endorsed my candidacy, including NYS Attorney General Leticia James, Congress members Ritchie Torres, Adriano Espaillat and George Latimer, NYS Comptroller Tom DiNapoli, NYC Comptroller Mark Levine, Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson, City Council Member Eric Dinowitz, State Senator Jamaal T. Bailey and Assembly Members George Alvarez, Yudelka Tapia, John Zaccaro, Jr. and Speaker Carl Heastie.

I thank every one of them from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you to all of my supporters and the voters of the 81st Assembly District for bestowing upon me the honor to represent our party on the ballot in the November election. I will continue to work hard, stand up for you, speak out and always do the right thing for my constituents.
