To the editor,
”I’m going to be working for you. I’m not going to have time to go play golf,” Donald Trump repeatedly told crowds during his campaign for the presidency in 2016. During his first term, according to congressional records, he played golf on 293 days — more than 15 percent of the time — at a cost to taxpayers of more than $151 million. As of March 29, 2026, he has played golf on more than 25 percent of his days in office so far during his current term, at a cost to taxpayers of more than $101 million — this from the man who told taxpayers in 2025 that children should have “two dolls instead of 30 dolls” and a maximum of five pencils.
