Deserving honor as a model citizen

To the editor,

I was so pleased to see Norris Ogaard’s Holiday Peace sign recognized in the latest edition of the Riverdale Press.

I met Norris at the Riverdale Yonkers Society for Ethical Culture. Norris became a dedicated and compassionate volunteer with the Emergency Overnight Shelter that I coordinated at the Society.

He showed up on time and regularly every Monday night for the eighteen years that we operated, including taking his turn spinning the night to ensure that the homeless guests were comfortable and the shelter ran smoothly.

Norris and his wife socialized witn my wife and I and we became a friends. and we also enjoyed bicycling together as a concern for the environment as well as enjoyment.

He deserves to be honored as model citizen.
