Devoted and loving wife Joan Sullivan, 93

Joan C. Sullivan, 93, of the Bronx, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at her summer home, with her family by her side.

She was born in New York on June 24, 1924, to the late Josephine and John Dempsey. A devout Catholic and loving wife, she was an active parishioner of the Church of the Visitation in the Bronx for more than 50 years where she was a member of their choir and active in the St. Anne’s Guild.

She spent her summers in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey, for more than 20 years, and attended St. Peter’s Church. 

She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband Kevin Sullivan in 1988, and by their son Kevin Sullivan. She is survived by her daughter Mary McGuinness (John); by her sons Christopher and Michael (Janet); daughter-in-law Karen Sullivan; seven grandchildren: Kevin, Christen, Michelle, Kathleen, John, Nora and Mary Kate; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation took place at Van Hise & Callagan Funeral Home in Point Pleasant Beach, while a Mass of Christian Burial took place at St. Peter’s.

Interment was at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla.
