Larry Richner, a decorated and wounded World War II veteran died on Sept. 17. He was 86.
Mr. Richner was a 55-year resident of Johnson Avenue in Riverdale and spent his entire working career with the Frank B. Hall Insurance Company in Manhattan.
During the war, Private Richner was stationed in Europe with the Army’s 63rd Division as a mortar gunner and was wounded in Germany.
The son of lifetime Bronx residents, the late Alex and Sylvia Richner, Larry was a proud football Giants fan and a long-suffering Mets fan. He was predeceased last year by his wife Arline. He is survived by his daughters and their families: Bonnie Federman and husband Charles, Sharon Richner and husband Bruce Kaufman, and grandchildren Danielle, Eric, Rebecca, Samantha and Shira. He was an uncle to Clifford and Stuart Richner, the owners of The Riverdale Press.
A graveside funeral with full military honors was held on Sept. 19 at Beth El Cemetery in Paramus, N.J.
