Deadly storm

A 12.6-inch blizzard caused the death of two people in Riverdale in February 1967, with one man dying of a heart attack outside of St. Margaret’s Church while trying to walk through the storm. A continuing cold spell delayed efforts to clear the heavy snow drifts after the storm.

In animal news, Irving, a 5-year-old Maine Coon cat, had his moment in The Press’ spotlight with a feature telling the story of his having been paid $25 an hour to star in several magazine and TV ads.
