Business closures endanger Riverdale

Posted

To the Editor:

With the closure of another business on Johnson Avenue, the shopping situation in Riverdale has gone from inconvenient to dangerous.

For older people with mobility issues and no car and limited income, and especially those who follow kosher laws, the situation has become untenable.

I will not address the reason for this; that’s for the politicians to address. I will address the health and well-being issue, as well as the situation in Riverdale which has gone from a welcoming, family-oriented community to one perched on the precipice of disaster.

I would not even recommend anyone move to Riverdale if they did not have a car and deep pockets to drive to Westchester, or at least down to Broadway.
