H. Lois Moyer-Thompson dies at 92

H. Lois Moyer-Thompson died on April 20, 2026 at the age of 92. She was born in March 1934 in Leaksville (Eden), North Carolina to Robert S. and Kathleen Moyer. Lois worked on the family’s farm to grow vegetables and tobacco until graduation from high school. She moved to New York, NY in 1952 and began building her life and family there. Lois met and married Benny Thompson, moved to Riverdale, and had one son, Bradley.

Lois worked at New York-Presbyterian Hospital doing bookkeeping until retirement. She moved to Ohio in 2016 to live her final years with her brother Stanley and niece Sheelah. Lois was preceded in death by her son, brothers (and sisters-in-law) Hoover (Margaret), Stanley (Lillian), Willard, Calvin (Norma), and Jasper Moyer, and ex-husband Benny.

Lois is survived by her grandchildren Cherie and Jason Thompson, former sister-in-law Cookie Thompson, and many nieces and nephews. She was a great example of overcoming adversity and persevering to make your own joy. Her warmth, love, and feistiness will be greatly missed.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Cypress Pointe Health Campus assisted-living center and Legacy facility, Day City Hospice and all those who cared for her during her declining health.
