To the editor:
I am 85 years old, and a resident of the Hebrew Home at Riverdale.
I am shocked, appalled and horrified at the hisses and boos I received at the land use committee meeting on May 7 from my Riverdale neighbors when I stood up to express my support for the Hebrew Home’s plans to bring a continuing care retirement community to Riverdale.
We can all agree to disagree, but have we lost all respect and dignity in how we treat one another?
If Riverdale is a welcoming community to older adults, as it claims, shouldn’t we start by treating those in our own backyard with respect?
I hate to imagine how these Riverdale neighbors treat their own grandmother when they have a disagreement!
