The lights hanging over Riverdale Avenue last week tell the story that the holidays are upon us once again. The smiles on the faces of the children at Saturday’s holiday toy distribution for Bronx military families at the Bronx Zoo tells you it is Christmas time. This year both Hanukkah and Christmas fall in the same week.

Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson and officials from the Bronx Zoo were joined by Santa and Mrs. Claus Saturday at the zoo to distribute toys to Bronx military families in need this holiday season. Their presence puts smiles on children’s and adult’s faces. In its 14th year, this event has become a tradition. The partnership between the Bronx Zoo and the Gibson continued to serve members of the community who have served their country but find it difficult to make ends meet during the holidays.
