Walter Wolf Rinns, 92, was a longtime Riverdalian

Walter Wolf Rinns, a Riverdale resident for more than 50 years, died on Jan. 3 in Lincoln, Neb. He was 92.

Born Walter W. Rindsberg, on Sept. 5, 1920 in Germany, to Ferdinand and Erna (Blum) Rindsberg. Mr. Rinns and his late wife, Ilse Bisson, were residents of Riverdale for more than 50 years. He met his wife in New York City, after they both immigrated to the United States. They were married for 54 years until her death in 2004. 

Mr. Rinns moved to Lincoln, Neb. from New York City in November 2006 to be near his daughter, Jennifer, and son-in-law, Kent.

Mr. Rinns is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Kent Londre of Lincoln, Neb.; grandson Justin Londre and his wife Flora of Coto De Caza, Calif. and their children Savannah and Mason; granddaughter Kate and her husband Jim King of Kenton, Del. and their children Elisabeth, Rebecca, Reaghan and Jameson;  and niece Gaby Verheydt of Brussells, Belguim.

The Rinns name will live on with Reaghan Rinns King, who took her great grandfather’s last name as her middle name, the family said.

A celebration of life service was held Jan. 5 in Wyuka Funeral Home in Lincoln, Neb. Entombment will take place Thursday, Jan. 10, at the New Cedar Park Cemetery in Paramus, N.J. with the Robert Schoem’s Menorah Chapel funeral directors handling the services.

The family asks that memorials be sent to the ASPCA.
